The Telepathic Two Song Cycle

29/1/2016

I got some good news today that I'm very excited about! I've been awarded an Arts Professional Development grant from Dún Loaghaire Rathdown County Council Arts Office to finish composing the Telepathic Two Song Cycle!

Off to a studio in Bray this morning, the most glorious commute on the planet #dart #dublin #commute #wicklow #sea #sky

I realise I may seem like I'm getting ahead of myself here, I've only just started composing the West Pier song Cycle and sharing the process and here I am talking about another one but it's all part of a bigger picture. When I think of the next album (I know I know definitely getting ahead of  myself!) I picture it as being in two halves, with two twin song cycles each approximately a half hour long. One is the West Pier Song Cycle and the other is The Telepathic Two Song Cycle. Both follow a journey in Dublin; the West Pier Cycle obviously follows the journey of walking the west pier in Dún Loaghaire, and the Telepathic Two song cycle follows the story of a telepathic mother and son taking a journey on the DART. The mother and son character in the Telepathic Two cycle are the same characters from the song Show Me off my album Big Starving Thing.
I'm so delighted both song cycles got funded because they both go hand in hand and will form one complete piece when they're finished. Thank you to Dún Loaghaire Rathdown County Council Arts Office for their continued support of the arts and emerging musicians such as myself.

These two pieces will take a while to compose and that's before the process of rehearsing, performing or recording begins so it will be a while before you hear the end result but as always I'll be sharing the process along the way; posting snippets of lyrics, demos, bits and pieces of both as they progress. Keep an eye out on my facebook, instagram, twitter and join the mailing list!

In the meantime we're playingArthur's on Thomas Street on February 6th! It's only a fiver and it'll be a great night of songs, stories and 100% accurate fortune telling so come along.
