I picked up Lydia Davis's collection of short stories (some of them micro short!) entitled Can't and Won't from the library and I'm really enjoying it. I'm always drawn to storytellers that use very short sentences, maybe because I tend to think in long run on sentences so the brevity seems exotic or maybe just because I have a twitter generation attention span. |  Teeny tiny stories in Can't and Won't by Lydia Davis |
 | Short sentences, especially at the start of stories, can be so intense. It gives every word a sense of weight and purpose. These stories don't contain a single word that isn't telling the bare bones of the story so it's all plot! I'm all about plot! Every single word is used with clear intent so when you do see anything descriptive you're forced to really consider it's reason for being there. |
Some of her stories are marked 'dream' which just goes to disprove the theory that no one wants to hear about other peoples dreams. When they're as wry and witty as this how could you resist.

Big Starving Thing comes with a collection of micro stories that accompany some of the songs on the album. Stories about fish and Frida Kahlo and two-headed monsters...but none of them are marked 'dream'!
